Kensington: for a homeowner with health concerns, we replaced a 1970 furnace and its asbestos ductwork with a Carrier Infinity modulating furnace, new ductwork, an IQAir purifier with a MERV 16 filter and an Aprilaire ventilator, with controls to run the purifier and ventilator separately.
Berkeley: a Mitsubishi two-zone heat pump with an IQAir Perfect 16 purifier for a duplex.

What does MERV 16 mean?
MERV rates how well a filter captures particles, from 1 to 16. MERV 16 is the highest rating for standard HVAC filters. Higher ratings can restrict airflow, so the system has to be set up for them.
Can air filtration be added to my existing system?
In many homes, yes. A purifier or media filter cabinet installs in the return air of your furnace or air handler. We check the system and airflow at the estimate.
Is a whole-home purifier better than portable purifiers?
A whole-home system cleans all the air your heating and cooling system moves. Portable units clean one room each. Many homes use a whole-home system and keep a portable unit for a bedroom.
Does better filtration need a new furnace?
Not usually. A purifier or media filter cabinet installs on your existing furnace or air handler when the blower and ducts can carry the airflow.
