Repair Process

What Happens During a Furnace Diagnostic

The $79 diagnostic covers a full system inspection. Before we recommend any repair, we identify the root cause — not just the symptom.

  • Visual inspection of the full system — heat exchanger, burners, venting, and all accessible components
  • Electrical and gas pressure testing — verify incoming voltage, capacitor condition, and gas pressure at the manifold
  • Ignition system check — test igniter operation, flame sensor signal, and control board response
  • Blower motor and airflow verification — check motor amp draw, belt condition, and static pressure across the system
  • Safety control testing — cycle all limit switches, pressure switches, and rollout controls
  • Carbon monoxide check — verify combustion gases are venting correctly and not entering the living space
  • Written repair recommendation with itemized pricing — no work begins without your approval

What We Fix

Common Furnace Repairs

Aarvaks technicians service all furnace brands — Carrier, Bosch, Lennox, Trane, Goodman, Rheem, American Standard, and more. If it has a gas line and a blower, we service it.

Ignition & Sensors

Hot surface igniter replacement, flame sensor cleaning or replacement, thermocouple, and control board diagnosis. Most ignition faults are identified and resolved in a single visit.

Blower & Motor

Blower motor replacement, run capacitor, draft inducer motor, blower belt and wheel. Blower faults often cause the furnace to cycle off on high-limit — we trace the root cause before recommending parts.

Heat Exchanger & Gas Components

Cracked heat exchanger inspection and replacement, gas valve, pressure switch, limit switch, and manifold repairs. A cracked heat exchanger is a carbon monoxide risk — we will not leave a system running if one is found.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the $79 diagnostic fee cover?

The $79 fee covers a full system inspection — electrical testing, gas pressure verification, ignition system check, blower motor evaluation, safety control testing, and a carbon monoxide check. At the end, you receive a written repair recommendation with itemized pricing. No work begins until you approve it.

Is the diagnostic fee waived if you do the repair?

Yes. The diagnostic fee is waived if we do the repair.

Do you service all furnace brands?

Yes. We service all residential and commercial furnace brands — Carrier, Bosch, Lennox, Trane, Goodman, Rheem, American Standard, and others. We are a Carrier Authorized Dealer, but our diagnostic and repair work covers any brand.

How do I know if my furnace needs repair or replacement?

The diagnostic will tell you. If the repair cost approaches or exceeds half the cost of a comparable new system, or if the heat exchanger is cracked, replacement is usually the better long-term investment. We give you both figures — repair cost and replacement cost — so you can decide without pressure.

My furnace starts then shuts off after a few minutes. What’s wrong?

Short cycling — where the furnace fires and shuts off repeatedly — is most commonly caused by a dirty flame sensor, a failing limit switch, a clogged filter restricting airflow, or an overheating blower motor. It can also indicate a cracked heat exchanger. A diagnostic will identify the root cause.

My furnace isn’t igniting at all. Is that an emergency?

A furnace that fails to ignite is not producing heat, but it is also not producing carbon monoxide. If you smell gas, leave the home immediately and call PG&E at 1-800-743-5000 before calling us. If there is no gas smell, book a diagnostic appointment and we will identify the ignition fault.
